TIDA-01347: Next, How can I debug TIDA-01347?

Part Number: TIDA-01347
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLPC4422, DLP660TE

I buy two TIDA-01347.(0.66" 4K UHD EVM Board).

My co-worker use 19V to plug in power connector, resulting my TIDA-01347 was broken.

I have to repair .

I already replace IC two PMD1000(U10, U29) and two DLPC4422(U32, U33) but cannot boot normally now.

I check my power is good, but the signal - resetz(TP22, TP23) is always low.>I think the major reason.

I can using composer to update FW on programming mode.

The picture is show the debug message by RS_232_M including boot normally and abnormally.

Please help me how can I debug next step?

True

False

  • Hello Kevin,

Thank you for using the DLP Forums.
Giving the system 19V can break the board in different ways. Discrete components may be the issue, or some other ICs on the 12V rail could have also been destroyed. You will need to be thorough to figure out the issue on your board.

I'm gonna go ahead and assume that you have already tried to reprogram the board since you said that you are able to communicate with the new controllers with composer.

From the debug messages, my first guess is that it sounds that it has something to do with the PMIC(s). But since you replaced them, it could mean that the external components of the PMIC may be the issue. Double check the voltages of both PMICs as well as the external components. Also check the voltages from the FPGA regulators to ensure they are working properly.

Lastly follow the 12V rail on the schematic to see what else is tied to that rail and make sure all other ICs are fucntioning as well.

    Oscar
  • Thanks, Oscar!
I already check all my power about PMD1000, DLPC4422, FPGA that is good.
The D10 (FPGA_CONF) is lighting when power up.->I think the FPGA is good.
How can I debug next step?
Is it related to Low-power mode?
  • Hi Oscar,

Today, I measure signal by Oscilloscope.

I find the signal-PWRGOOD and POSENSE not always stay high, it become low regularly.(Attachment picture)

I try to desolder R661 and R652, the signal-PWRGOOD and POSENSE always stay high.

How can I debug next step?

  • Hi Kevin,

Can you send the debug messages from the RS_232_S SLAVE controller, I would like to see what those read.
Regarding the scope image, what signal are you probing because I only see one and you're talking about both PWRGOOD and POSENSE.

Also I wanted to ask about the abnormal debug messages in your first post, is that system on a loop where it tries to repeatedly turn on but fails or are those each an attempt that you tried to turn on the system?

    Regards,
    Oscar
  • Hi Oscar,

The picture is show the debug message by RS_232_S including boot normally and abnormally.

    True

    False

The signal PWRGOOD and POSENSE was measured the same waveform.

I open my system abnormally every times, the open normally is the another piece.

  • Hello Kevin,

I wanted to ask you if you could try to download the latest version of the firmware for the DLP660TE, which you can find in the software section in the Ti design page. Please attempt this for me and let me know if you still have the same issues.

    Regards,

    Oscar

  • Something went wrong with the link I posted. Here is the URL

  • Hi Oscar,

    Bad news....

I try to measure Posense & PWRGOOD, the TIDA-01347 short circuit suddenly.
    I feel so sad....

Next, I have to remove issue short circuit and try the other action.

  • Hi Oscar,

My TIDA-01347 has been fixed, but the status is the same as original question.

Next, I will try to download the firmware that Oscar suggest.

The following questions I want to ask:

    1. The firmware name is :Flash_DUAL_DLPC4422_DLP660TE_LED.img?

    2. What item need I tick and select?

    Kevin

  • Hi Oscar,

I want to ask you that what tool or program can help me debug?
How can I check dlpc4422 work normally or abnormally?

    Kevin
  • Hi Kevin,

The image file you mentioned is the correct one.
For programming the board, make sure you choose the image file first. Then check the complete image download and UNCHECK "skip boot loader area" and leave everything else as is. Then you can start the download.

The debug messages are the primary tool that we use in order to debug our systems. For now, please program the latest image and share the debug messages for both Master and Slave if the system still does not work.

    Oscar
  • Hi Oscar,

Today, I have downloaded new FW in boot hold.(connect J31).

Next, I unconnect J31 and restart power.

The following picture is debug message.

    Master

    Slave

    The status is still wrong.

My colleague said "It it possible to PMD1000 output the signal that we not known to DDP4422 and make the status".

    How do you think?

    Kevin

  • Hello Kevin,

    Lets take this conversation offline.
I'll reach out with a friend request, please accept and we can continue from there.
