TIDA-00807: How to program the on-board MSP430

Part Number: TIDA-00807
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: MSP430FR5728, MSP-FET

Hii

I am working on fault indicator. The reference design mentions about 2-wire JTAG (Spy-Bi-Wire) interface. I want to know if it is same as serial-wire debug interface?  Actually, I have 4-wire JTAG emulator can I use this  emulator for 2-wire JTAG interface?

Thanks and regards

Deepak

  • Hello Deepak,

Yes, this design features the 2-wire SBW interface as shown in the design's schematic (actually a very valuable resource that basically shows all the hardware connections). You can program the MSP430FR5728 using the J1 header on the board. If you have our MSP-FET debugger, it supports both 2-wire SBW and 4-wire JTAG. If your debugger isn't manufactured by TI or one of our partners, then I would highly recommend that you purchase one.

If you have more questions about the debug interface, please read through our MSP Debuggers User's Guide and MSP430 Hardware Tools User's Guide.

    Regards,

    James
