TINA/Spice/TIDA-00120: Is there a spice module for this reference design?

Part Number: TIDA-00120
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI, , LM5101A, INA240

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Am I blind? Does this design not have a reference design?

Thank you in advance

  • Joshua,
TIDA-00120 does not have an associated Tina simulation model.
Are there any specific parameters you are looking to test in simulation?

    Regards,
    Bart
  • We are using this design as a spring board to help us get to market faster; but we are needing to make a few changes to voltage and current ability. Our application code is also deviating from what is written and we are finding ourselves in the situation where a model would be a great tool for speeding up possible design changes.

I am particularly looking for a simulation of the design when some of our changes started frying bridge drivers and micro controllers (anything on the 3.3V bus) and I wanted to use the model for troubleshooting pieces of hardware under different conditions. We have since fixed that problem, but it would be nice.

  • Example of one question i could extract from a model I am needing is ripple voltage. What is the designed ripple voltage?

    Thanks in advance

  • Joshua,
It looks like we don't have a Spice model avaliable for the SM device on TIDA-00120 that would enable you to complete a simulation in Tina of the power stage. However, the LM5101A is a suitable replacment gate driver, and the INA240 can replace the current shunt amplifiers.

I'll reach out to the origional designer of TIDA-00120 to check on the ripple parameters you asked about.
  • Joshua,
Since the load is typically a battery in the design, the ripple value isn't very important. For loads without a battery however, the design target was 1% of the output voltage.
