The PMP20859 is a Dual-input redundant PoE PD reference design with the smooth transition feature. The smooth transition feature enables the delivery of non-interrupted output power. For the smooth transition to operate, the PoE inputs of the PD must stay connected to the Power Source Equipment (PSE). There is a maintain power signature (MPS) defined in the IEEE802.3bt PoE specification, which is a minimum load that must be maintained for a PSE to stay connected to a PD. The TPS2372 automatically detects when the minimum load is reached and applies a pulsed load (for reduced power dissipation) to satisfy the MPS.
