TIDA-00762: Programmation

Hello, I'm wondering about how the TIDA-00762 use its component, I mean, the BQ500511 is already programmed and how it has to be set? Especially I would like to know how the feedback for the power erogation is managed, If I'm not wrong the datasheet speaks about a feedback connection using the I2C protocol, but it's connect to what?

Hi

The device is programmed at the factory and cannot be reprogrammed or changed. Several settings are adjustable using external resistors.

I2C bus is available but not required for operation of the device. See "bq500511 Wireless Power Transmitter I2C Interface" document (SLUA767).

Also note this device in Not Recommended for New Design (NRND).

Thank you very much, but I've other doubts, what do you mean with adjustable settings? I cannot figure out what can I change using the resistors. Moreover if this device is NRND can you suggest me a more modern IC?

Hello Metteo Pera

The BQ500511A has three settings that can be adjusted using external resistor, change voltage applied to pins.
1.) LED MODE -- Change LED behavior see data sheet table
2.) FOD_CAL -- This will change the shape of the loss curve vs output power
3.) FOD_TH -- This will set the loss threshold where a fault will be set.

TI has NRND all wireless power TX and do not plan to introduce additional units.

I'd like to ask you another question ... I was trying to use a print inductor directly on the PCB board with support of on-line software for calcolate the inductance of square inductor (http://www.circuits.dk/calculator_planar_coil_inductor.htm) is this something could work with this IC if i respect the coil inductance?

Moreover I see that in the schematic of the TIDA-00762 the resistors R18 and R11 have a value of 0.02 and 2.00 respectively, these values have to be considered in KOhm?

Hi Matteo
I do not recommend printed inductors due to DC resistance of the PCB coils. Start with a proven wire wound coil to get the system working then look at transitioning to PCB coils.

R18 is 0.02 ohms and R11 is 2.00 ohms
