TIDA-01512: Impedance required for the current sense traces.

Part Number: TIDA-01512

Hi TI team,

While going through the layout guidelines it is mentioned that the CS pins must be routed as differential pair with the Vref trace. can you please let me know whether any specific impedance is required for this differential traces or any common impedance can be used for all the phases. And also please let me know whether any plane can be made for the vref so that it enables the differential routing for all the current sense signals.

  • Hi Sai,

We suggest to route a separate VREF trace with CS for each phase. All VREF traces are connected together at controller side.
There is no specific requirement on impedance as long as VREF and CS traces of each phase are routed as differential pair.
It is suggested to place all pairs of VREF/CS traces on the same internal layer, where noise is small.

    Thanks
    Qian
