TINA/Spice/TLV2401: Help with simulation model

Part Number: TLV2401
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hello,

I want to simulate the TLV2401 amp because I'm thinking about adding it to my product design.  I have downloaded the attached spice model.  It is called "TLV240xC PSpice 15V Supply Voltage Model" and linked below.

http://www.ti.com/product/TLV2402/toolssoftware

Questions:

1. Why are there three different models for different voltages?

2. I need to use this part with a small negative supply (dual supply instead of single supply configuration).  My positive supply is 6-7.5V and my negative is -1.25V.  It can be -2V or -3V if needed.  Can I use the 24V model to simulate this?

3. In the text file the circuit model pins 1,2,3,4,5 don't seem to match the comments.  Please see the attached model text file I downloaded from the above link.  If I slide the comments over showing the "connections" they don't match the pin out shown in the data sheet for this part.  Why don't the pins in the txt file/circuit model match the data sheet pins for the TLV2401 DBV package on data sheet page 2?

4. How do I know which pin is which for this model?

  • Thank you very much!

    Any updates?

  • Hi Robbie,

    Please find my answers below:

    1. Why are there three different models for different voltages?

So, the performance of the device changes based on the supply voltage. As you can see from the datasheet, there are plots (for the same parameter) that changes based on supply voltage. The datasheet has plots for standard power supply voltages such as: 2.7V, 5V and 15V.

    2. I need to use this part with a small negative supply (dual supply instead of single supply configuration).  My positive supply is 6-7.5V and my negative is -1.25V.  It can be -2V or -3V if needed.  Can I use the 24V model to simulate this?

There are only 3 models available for this device (2.7V, 5V and 15V). For your case, I would recommend choosing 15V, to get +/- 7.5V supply voltage.

The package pin out is different from the model pin out. The text file has the correct pin out for the model (do not use the datasheet pin out unless you have a physical DBV package that you're trying to use).

Just for clarity, below are the pin out for the model:

    1 - Non-inverting Input

    2- Inverting Input

    3 - Positive Power-Supply

    4 - Negative Power-Supply

    5 - Output

You can also refer to Page 17 of the datasheet, where the model pin out is listed.

    4. How do I know which pin is which for this model?

    Refer to question 3.

    Best Regards,

    Bala Ravi
