TIDA-01243: HDMI+USB+12V over USB Type C

Part Number: TIDA-01243
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982

We are looking for a solution to combine USB, HDMI and 12V power over USB Type C. We currently have a motherboard that outputs USB and HDMI which we connect to a touchscreen display. We are hoping to redesign the motherboard and the display electronics to be able to use a single USB Type C cable between the motherboard and touchscreen display. The new display will use 12V power, so I'd like to send that over the same cable as well. What ICs should I consider for combining the signals on the motherboard as well as demuxing at the display electronics back into USB and HDMI? Any reference designs would be great.

I was referred to the TIDA-01243 reference design, which looks like it would work for demuxing the signals at the display into USB, HDMI, and 12V power. I wasn't sure if it would work for muxing the signals at the motherboard. A few more questions I have about this design:

-Why do I need two controllers - TPS65982 and TPS65986?

-It looks like I need to convert HDMI into DP for this to work. What ICs should I be looking at to convert HDMI into DP?

-I am ultimately going to be converting to LVDS at the display, are there any ICs that convert DP to LVDS? If not, what ICs can I use to convert DP back into HDMI (I have found designs to convert from HDMI to LVDS)?

I'm pretty new to USB Type C and Alt Mode, so any help would be greatly appreciated!
