PMP15043: HV side voltage range

Part Number: PMP15043
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61178

Hi team,

I'd like to use your reference design for testing batteries. Does the HV side has to be greater than 12V? I plan to use a 3s li-ion battery in the 9V-12.6V range. Which components require 12V minimum?
Thank you for your reply.

  • Hi Jan,

I am not sure if I understand the problem.  The TPS61178 is a boost controller.  So the HV side should be higher than the LV side for boost switching.  Anyway, let me forward to our experts of the TPS611781, and they would answer you shortly.

    Thanks,

  • Hi,

I've already found the answer. On the LV side is 1S li-ion 3V-4.2V, which is discharged and charged from HV side 3S Li-ion 9-12.6V. But there is a linear regulator UA78L09A  and it needs at least 11.5V from the HV side. That's why is need at least 12V on the HV side and I have 9V to 12.6V. So I will use an external power supply for the UA78L09A controller.
    Thank you for your time.
