WEBENCH® Tools/TPS40304: Power Design for 1V 10A using WEBENCH

Part Number: TPS40304

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I designed a power supply of 1V 10A at 85C using TPS40304. On WEBENCH tool , the MOSFET that are used are two in number but when I downloaded the altium file, there were four Mosfets in the schematic file. What is the reason for that?

Attached are the screen shot of my WEBENCH design and schematic file that is downloaded.mosfet problem.rar

  • Hi Muhammad ather,

I checked the screenshot you have shared. Seems Webench is creating design with parallel Mosfets (Quantity is 2 per fet: Please find the below image for reference). This often happens for high output current and temperature inputs, when Webench fails to get design solution with single mosfet. Let me know if you have further queries.

  • Thanks Bhushan,

When I am redesigning the solution now, it is giving me solution with only one FET. The part number that it is assigning is different from the later one. Why is that so? Can I use this part number in my current design and use only one FET ?

    Ather

  • Hi Ather,

Database on Webench is always updated and you might see change in selected components based on available Fets in database.

Yes, you can always use those selected fets for your design. Please verify Mosfet temperatures too in operating values table, if that suits your application. Let me know if you have further queries.

    Best Regards,

    Bhushan
