TIDA-01503: How to modify the schematics to get 15V 0.6A and 5V 0.6A output?

Part Number: TIDA-01503
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: UCC28704

Hi

We would like to copy TIDA-01503 design for DC 96V ~ 150V in to generate two output rail 15V 0.6A and 5V 0.6A.

May I know how to modify TIDA-01503 design for this ?

  • Hello,

Tida-01503 uses the UCC28704 primary side regulated controller.   What will need to change is the transformers Np/Ns turns ratios, transformers primary magnetizing and output capacitance.

Their is an Excel design tool for the UCC28704 that you can use to help modify the design that can be found at the following link.

The tool is for an AC to DC output single output.  However, you should be able to use it for your design.

    1. Since your input min and max is DC, divide the values by 2^0.5 and enter it into the tool.
    2. To calculated the transformer primary magnetizing inductance (Lpm) start entering the 5 V output at 12 W.
      1. Also note the primary peak and RMS currents for  this design.
      2. You will need this to get a transformer designed for this application.
      3. Also note the Rcs and Rlc because those will change in your design as well.
    3. After Lpm is obtained change the 5V output's current to 0.6 A.
      1. This will give you the Np/Ns turns ratio for the 5V output
      2. This will give your the RMS currents on the secondary winding of this output
      3. This will also give you the output capacitance for the 5V output.
      4. The rest of tida-013503 should work for this application.
    4. Set the output of the tool to 15V 0.6A.
      1. This will give you the Np/Ns for the 15V output, it will also give you the secondary winding's secondary RMS current for this output.
      2. This will also give you the output capacitance for the 15V output.

    5. The rest of the power stage for the TIDA-01503 should work for your application.

    Regards,
