WEBENCH® Tools/LM2733: LM2733

Part Number: LM2733
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS61178

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

Hi Team,

I am using LM2733XMF/NOPB boost converter in my design, when I tried designing it using webench, the webench is not working.

My requirement is as follows:

Vin min = 2.9V , Vin max = 3.3V, Vout = 18V, Iout = 0.8A.

I am also attaching the schematics pdf of all TI parts that are used in my design.

I want TI team to review it at your end and update me with the your review feedback.TI Parts review.pdf

  • Hi User,

The WEBENCH design is not getting created. We are looking into the root cause. We will forward your attached design for review to our expert. The team will get back to you shortly.

    Thanks & Regards,
    Praveen

  • Hi,

LM2733 switch current limit is 1A so it could not work with your condition.

TPS61178 is suitable for this application. You can use WEBENCH to do the simulation and design. Thanks.

  • Hi Zack Liu,

    Thanks for reply.

I do not think switch current may be the issue because it is recommended 1A or below, so I am giving 0.8A which is obviously less than 1A.

Even when I tried Iout = 1A the Webench is not working.

    With regards,

    Jayashree.

  • Hi Jayashree,

For DCDC boost converter, the switch current limit means the current flowing to the internal MOSFET current limit, not the output current limit. The switch current almost equals to input current so it limits the input maximum current. In this application, assumed the efficiency is 0.85, the average input current would be 18V*0.8A/2.9V/0.85=5.84A. That's why LM2733 is not able to work.
