TIDA-00527: Maximum Voltage of Bus VCC

Part Number: TIDA-00527
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: THVD8000

Hello

What is the maximum voltage of the bus VCC on TIDA-00527?

Best regards.

  • Hi Louis,

There was a similar thread on this yesterday, so you can refer here for the answer:

    https://e2e.ti.com/support/interface/f/138/t/916745

Note that this referenced the THVD8000 device, but the same concerns would apply for TIDA-00527.  Actually, though, I would strongly recommend evaluating the THVD8000 for power-line communication applications over TIDA-00527.  AC-coupling of RS-485 signals works best when the data is high in frequency and is DC balanced (i.e., has equal time in the "high" and "low" states on average).  With TIDA-00527 this could be handled externally to the transceiver, for example by increasing the baud rate and implementing encoding in the MCU.  However, it is simpler to use THVD8000 which has modulation and demodulation built in.  That way, it can interface directly to existing MCU/UART ports without putting special restrictions on the data pattern or baud rate.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

    Regards,
    Max
