The selection criteria for a CAN TVS would be similar to what I described in your other post regarding RS-232:

One other thing to consider here is that the parasitic capacitance should not be too high, since capacitive loading can introduce timing distortion in CAN networks that would limit the maximum signaling rate that is achievable.
