LM5140-Q1: LM5140 Max Current Capability

Part Number: LM5140-Q1

Hi team,

What is the maximum output current that can be achieved at both Vout1(3.3V) and Vout2(5V) when the input is 12V,

Thanks

Mahendra

  • Hello

The governing factor regarding the max Iout for a controller is

how large a FET it can drive.  Larger Iout means larger FETs with larger gate drive power required.

That means more power dissipation in the controller and a slower gate drive for the FETs.  The gives less

efficiency and higher temperature rise in the application.

Your best way to design your application is to use the calculator tool on the TI product page for this device and/or Webench

to experiment with FET sizes vs power dissipation and efficiency.

    Thanks
