TIDA-00554: DLP NIR Spectrometer for Portable Chemical Analysis Feature & Applications

Part Number: TIDA-00554
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: DLP2010

Hello,

I'm a chemist, so my question is quite general and may results not in a proper forum,

I found the TI NIR Spectrometer for Chemical Analysis while I was looking in internet
for building a low cost FTIR.

My questions are related to features for application expansion:

1) what's about the possibility to work in transmission mode and in ATR mode?
with advantage to have higher signal in comparison with diffuse reflectance.

2) what about a improved system that will allow to extend the wavelength range until 25 micron
This will cover MID IR and would increase the application for analytical chemistry applications.

Thank you in advance for this general question

Kind Regards
Roberto Cantoni

  • Hello Roberto,

Welcome to DLP forum and thank you for your interest in DLP technology.

I believe the DLPNIRScan Nano EVM can be modified for FTIR (Fourier transform infrared) application. The EVM ships with reflective illumination head.

This needs to be replaced with a purpose built sample handing unit for transmission and ATR mode. I am not aware of availability of such  adapter/illumination head from our echo-system.

You may want to reach out to our third-party partners to design & develop the illumination/adapter.

Extended wavelength - DLP2010 DMD support up to 2500nm wavelength. However ,the EVM is designed to support up to only 1700nm.  To support up to 2500nm , it will require completely  new design and new optical  components.

    regards,

    Vivek
