WEBENCH® Tools/XTR116: XTR116

Part Number: XTR116
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TIPD190

Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools

I am using XTR116U/2K5 device for getting 4 - 20mA output current.

I have seen the reference design TIPD190.

I would like to know - Which resistor we can add as a Trim Pot to control the output current for calibration purpose?

Thanks and regards,

Sumit

  • Hello Sumit,

You can add a trimpot to R1+R3 and R4+R5. The R4+R5 resistors divides the voltage output of the DAC into the input current, and the R1+R3 resistors add a 40uA offset to the input current. Both The Vout range of the DAC in the TIPD190 example is 0-4.096V and the resistors chosen give an output of 4-20mA. You may not need the 40uA offset if the lower bound of your DAC Vout is greater than 0V.

Please let us know if you need further clarification or if you have any other questions.
