I have a few questions on the PI input filter and its location.
1. Is the PI input filter required for automotive motor controller? Could just a LC filter be used instead of a PI filter, which means no capacitors on the left side of the L1? That could save cost and space. Any concerns of just using a LC filter?
2. The capacitance on the left side of L1 is much smaller than the capacitance on the right side of L1. Any specification on the capacitance on the left side of L1 for noise suppression?
3. In this design, the PI filter is placed before the battery reverse protection (LM74610 + Q1). The issue is that no electrolytic capacitor could be used, which limits the size of capacitance on the left side of L1. I am wondering whether it is better to place the PI filter after the battery reverse protection. Could LM74610 and MOSFET Q1 be damaged if the battery reverse protection is placed before the PI filter?
