Hi,

We are using the ECCROMCC26 and TRNGCC26 driver for the Elliptic curve diffie Hellman(ECDH) key exchange algorithm. For some certifications, the team is asking for what is the exact protocol used for the ECDH?

Yes, We already know its based on the diffie Hellman key agreement scheme. We just need to know whether there is any exact protocol is used for the ECDH. Like Certain protocols such as MD5 or SHA-224 etc.

I already have an answer from our experts. Please tell me if you need more details:

"ECDH does not use a hash algorithm. And what “protocol” is used for ECDH does not have any particular meaning to me.

It is recommended that the shared secret generated by ECDH not be used directly as a key but instead be run through a derivation algorithm (often SHA 256 is given as an example) first. But this step is not part of ECDH itself.

The CC2640R2 has a SHA 256 library in ROM."
