LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1: How to do AOA using CC1352R Sensor Tag and CC26X2R1 with BOOSTXL-AOA

Dear Support members,

I am trying to do RTLS Visual Demo Connection AOA using two CC26X2R1 as locators, and both of them have BOOSTXL-AOA attached, and a CC1352R Sensor Tag as the target.

I successfully loaded rtls_coordinator and rtls_passive into two CC26X2R1, and rtls_responder into CC1352R Sensor Tag.
After that, I ran rtls_ui and confirmed that it works fine.
However, the contents displayed were only CCI and no AOA.

How can I get the AOA to be displayed as well?

The SDK version I am using is 5.20.

Hi Mikogai,

Unfortunately, (as you've correctly identified) our visual demo only shows RSSI. To extract AoA data, you'll need to parse and reconstruct the IQ data in the log files located at

BASE_DIRECTORY\simplelink_cc13x2_26x2_sdk_5_20_00_52\tools\ble5stack\rtls_agent\rtls_ui\logs

Hi Block,

I saw on this website that rtls_ui also shows the AoA information.

Do I also need to parse and reconstruct the IQ data in the log to get this?

Thank you for your information.

I understood that the visual demo only shows RSSI on SDK 5.20.

I am trying to estimate the location of the target using AoA.
Is there any demo in SDK 5.20 that can do this?

Hi Mikogai,

Unfortunately we do not support a demo in SDK 5.20 that estimates location. You can do this yourself with the I/Q data, and there are a variety of different algorithms to use (MUSIC/ESPIRIT/Traditional Beamforming....etc).

Thanks for all your help.
This will be my last question and I hope you can help me.

I want to do position estimation in real time, so I don't want to use the I/Q data in the log file to do the calculation, because it affects execution speed of the program.
So I would like to find out the function to write the I/Q data to log files from the visual demo, and rewrite it that can display the AoA in the visual demo.
Do you know where is the function written?
