CC2642R-Q1: EMC behavior difference with CC2640R2F-Q1

Part Number: CC2642R-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2640R2F-Q1,

Hello,

My customer are using CC2640R2F-Q1 in production and have assessed the EMC performance/compliance of their system. They now have to do the same on their new CC2642R-Q1 systems. They ask whether we have made any assessment or could give any guidance on the EMC behavior of CC2642R-Q1 compared to CC2640R2F-Q1 at device level. Do we expect any and if so, has this been quantified?

Also, we have the Hardware Migration From CC26x0 to CC26x2R application note. Do we expect a different EMC performance because of the changes it describes?

Thank you.

Best regards,
François.

  • François,

Thanks for your inquiry. Unfortunately I don't fully understand what you are exactly asking in your sentence below.

Do we expect any and if so, has this been quantified?

Do you mean if we expect any changes between the two devices?

I will double check this with the team, but in principle the EMC has to be re-tested for every product, especially if it has design differences (single ended or differential), or different PHY configurations, etc.

One useful application note that covers some aspects of certification is SWRA601.

I will get back to this thread as soon as I get additional information.

    Regards,

    Rafael

  • François,

I got some additional information on that. It was confirmed that, despite we test and mention the emissions and ESD characteristics on a device's datasheet, this is only part of the customer's system. In other words, the whole system requires EMC and ESD compliance testing if a different device is used. This is also hinted in section 5 of the application note you sent.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
