CC2642R: can be controlled by msp430fr5994 for Bluetooth Mesh Networks?

Good day.

Found from this link that CC2642R along with CC2652R , CC1352R and CC2652P supports BLE Mesh. But just like to confirm if these products can be controlled by msp430fr5993 chip?

Hi Art,

The CC devices you're mentioning are standalone microcontrollers. They can be controlled from an MSP if you're running BLE in NPI mode, and they also have UART/I2C/SPI if you want to send messages back and forth across an MSP and CC device.

Hi Art,

I do not know, so I'll forward this thread over to MSP. If you're interested in using our BLE devices as a transceiver controlled by MSP, I would recommend reviewing NPI mode, which can operate over UART or SPI. We do have an example of this for the BLE chip in the SDK called host_test. I do not know if MSP has an example for the other side of this, though you could likely figure it out by playing with BTOOL (located in the tools folder of your SDK download), which is typically used to connect to host_test, and acts as the other side of the UART connection to control the BLE device acting as an NPI.

The basic example code of UART and I2C code is in below. MSP don't have code for NPI.

Hi Art,

Which interface you want to use to control CC26xx device? I haven't do this application before. But I think if it is I2C or UART. You could write a driver that when receive some special sentences from MSP the CC26xx do the relative actions. Do you have other great idea?

is the SPI ok if I can write a driver for this? If so, if the communication interfaces(I2C, UART, SPI) can control other transceivers? like nrf52840?
