Hi team,

I'm pushing CC2651R3 to my metering customer. The customer is developing using CC2642R now and plans to migrate to CC2651R3 when we add it support to SDK.

I was very surprised that CC2651R3 still provide no support and examples in latest 5.30 SDK.

Please advise when we plan to add off-chip OAD SBP example for CC2651R3?

Will we provide guidelines how to port SW from CC2642R to CC2651R3?

Hi Daniel,

I saw the porting guide. But I don't understand how to build the offchip OAD SBP example for CC2651R3.

The guide tells that:

It is not possible to use the Migrating Board Variant tool to change the device types of projects using CC13x2x1 or CC26x2x1 to CC13x1x3 or CC26x1x3.

And:

The CC2651P3 LaunchPad is highly recommended for evaluating CC13x1x3 or CC26x1x3 solutions.

But CC2651P3 doesn't have OAD example.

In the same time, looks like it not possible to use OAD examples from CC26x2 because of this:

Beyond these feasible software changes, it should be noted that additional radio patches are required for the CC13x1x3 or CC26x1x3 that cannot be emulated with a CC13x2x1 or CC26x2x1 device.

So I don't understand how to build SBP off-chip OAD example for CC2651R3.

Could you please explain me?

Hi Daniel,

You will likely have to program the bootloader on the device then the application code. I am assigning an expert to comment now.

Unfortunately we cannot comment on the roadmap on a public forum.

I do see a project_zero project in the SDK for the CC2651P3 that uses OAD which you can start from. Otherwise, in the meantime, I would recommend starting off with the simple_peripheral project and then follow our Simplelink Academy module to add off chip OAD to the example: https://dev.ti.com/tirex/explore/node?node=AIixxGE2y6tnPJ7cm65SFQ__pTTHBmu__LATEST .
