Hi,
Is it possible to run a debug session by connecting CC2650 as an external target to MSP430FR5969?

Hi,
Is it possible to run a debug session by connecting CC2650 as an external target to MSP430FR5969?
Hi Remukee,
The CC2650 and MSP430FR5969 do not share debugging hardware platforms (XDS110 vs eZ-FET) since they use different MCU cores, therefore it is not possible to use either's debugger/programmer to establish communication with the other.

Ryan
Yes, however you must connect a XDS110 which supports EnergyTrace hardware, for example the LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1. This User Guide provides information for connecting external targets, and you can find more details on current consumption measurements with this Application Report.

What other observations can you share? Are you able to use EnergyTrace in general? Are the JTAG pins all connected (VCC, GND, RESET, TMS, TCK, TDO, TDI)? Have you tried switching to EnergyTrace++ under the menu Window → Preferences → Code Composer Studio → Advanced Tools → EnergyTrace Technology? https://software-dl.ti.com/ccs/esd/documents/xdsdebugprobes/emu_energytrace.html

Hi,
Yes, Energy trace can be used.
In the Preferences, have enabled the Energy Trace++ also, connected all the JTAG pins that you have mentioned.
But the Energy Trace++ is disabled when I debug the program, only Energy Trace can be observed.
What SDK and CCS version are you using? Have you switched to 4-pin JTAG from your target configuration file? https://dev.ti.com/tirex/content/simplelink_cc13xx_cc26xx_sdk_5_30_01_01/docs/ble5stack/ble_user_guide/html/energy-trace/energy-trace.html

Hi,
Using CCS Version 10.3.1, SDK is 2.2.6.7
Tried the same steps using CC1352P and connected CC2650 as an external target to it.
Now it is able to run Energy Trace ++.
But with CC2652R1F, it was not able to run energy trace++.
Thanks for your guidance.
