LP-CC2652RB: Is that possible to use BIM to select boot up images?

Part Number: LP-CC2652RB
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2652R7

Hi,

I am wondering is that possible to store 2 images on external flash(or CC2652R7 internal flash by BIM-ONCHIP): 1x BLE 5.x peripherial image and 1 Zigbee end device image and select one of them by BIM-OFFCHIP? Or no need BIM, somehow it possible or not possible?

Ex: Hold button then reset for running BLE, or just boot up will run default image for Zigbee?

Or the second way like just use the OAD to exchange the image??

Thanks in advance.

  • Hi Aichi,

You can use the off-chip BIM to choose between two images stored on external flash to load and run on the device, but this will waste time during start-up.  The more preferred route is to use the on-chip BIM dual-image mode to select between either image stored internally.  This should be plausible with 352 kB of flash memory but you will have to be mindful of linker file setup and NVS regions during your development.  Or you can consider a DMM solution, like the dmm_zed_switch_remote_display_app example,  to run the two stacks consecutively.

    Regards,
