CC2642R-Q1: IC hang when running 4kV ESD test at the pin: RESET_N/TCK/TMS

Part Number: CC2642R-Q1

Hi  Team,

My customer is using CC2642R-Q1 and running ESD test.

They found sometimes IC hang when running 4kV ESD test at  the pin: RESET_N/TCK/TMS.

Please help to provide comments for this issue.

Thanks.

  • Hi,

Our device is specified to withstand ESD discharges according to the standards and voltages shown at table 8.2 of its datasheet.

However, when the device is included in a board, a system-level approach to mitigate the effects of ESD must be taken according to other testing regulations such as IEC-61000-4-2, for example. By system-level approach it means that other design decisions may need to be taken into consideration, such as PCB routing, shielding, addition of external parts such as resistors and transient suppressors (TVS), etc.

One last aspect that is related to the TCK and TMS pins is mentioned in section 6.4 of the CC13x2, CC26x2 Simplelink Wireless MCU Technical Reference Manual. To improve noise immunity, pull up resistors on the JTAG lines might be required.

    Regards,

    Rafael
