CC2642R: CC2642R used in LP-CC2652RSIP

Part Number: CC2642R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LP-CC2652RSIP, CC2652RSIP, , LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1, UNIFLASH, CC2652R

Hi Team,

Nice to talk with you. My customer has a question on CC2642.

They applied LP-CC2652RSIP for evaluation, then tried replace CC2652 with CC2642 on the board, so that they can evaluate the performance of CC2642. Then found the device can be programed but can not be started. Could you help explain the reason? Many thanks!

BRs, Sherman

  • Hi Sherman,

The LP-CC2652RSIP uses a CC2652RSIP device which includes the 48-MHz/32 kHz crystal oscillators and DCDC passive components inside the package.  Since the same cannot be said for the CC2642R device and there is no existing CC2642RSIP product available, the customer will need to use a LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1 LaunchPad and SDK example code.

    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Thanks a lot for your support!

Sorry I just made a mistake. The customer tried it on LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1, still can not be started. Do you have some suggestions on it?

    BRs, Sherman

  • It should not be a problem to swap the CC2652R on the LAUNCHXL-CC26X2R1 for a CC2642R.  Did they erase all memory before programming and can they read out device memory using Uniflash?  What example project have they tried to program and could they start with a simple timerled demonstration?  Please test multiple boards and ensure the swap has been performed cleanly with no possible solder errors or damage to the IC.

    Regards,
    Ryan

  • Hi Ryan,

Thanks for your reply. This issue has been resolved, the reason is Version C can not be started but Version E is OK. Whether version C has not been produced now?

    BRs, Sherman

  • Hi Sherman,

SimpleLink Revision C devices are pre-production silicon which has not been available since 2019.  Please refer to the following E2E FAQ post: https://e2e.ti.com/f/1/t/767777

I recommend that you dispose of the revision C immediately and only use revision E onwards.

    Regards,
    Ryan
