Hello,

TI's CC2650 Sensor Tag is a very compact and light weight bluetooth development platform, packed with tons of sensors and everything a firmware developer like me would need to develop BLE application. The only problem I have with this product is that it is using Bluetooth 4.2 standard, for which there is Bluetooth 5 and even 5.3 currently in the market.

I would like to know if there is any plans from TI to launch an update to Sensor Tag, and launch a Bluetooth 5.0 or higher version in the same form factor and similar sensors? If not then are there any similar products?

If you want just BLE5 device, you might want to redesign using CC2642R.

Hi Abi,

The LPSTK-CC1352R is the right evaluation board for your case.

The CC1352R is a dual band device (i.e. 2.4 GHz and Sub-1) capable of running the Bluetooth LE stack. After the development cycle is completed, you may want to slightly change the HW design to use a CC2642R instead, or possibly a CC2652R7 if larger memory is required.

Thanks, that looks like a good solution for now. Although I would have preferred if it had 9 axis IMU.
