CC2650: Can I use a CC2650 sensor tag to receive signals from a CC1350 sensor tag?

Part Number: CC2650
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1350,

Hello there,

We have been attempting to use the sub-GHz antenna on the CC2650 to receive RF signals from a CC1350 sensor tag. They are both set to the same frequency (2440 HZ) but seemingly nothing can be received. We have successfully transmitted signals between two CC2650 sensor tags and two CC1350 sensor tags, but not between the different families.

Our question is this: is it actually possible? We have looked over the data sheets and took them to be similar products, however we have not found a concrete answer as of yet.

Thanks in advance,

Sam and Sam

  • Hey Sam,

This seems like it's expected behavior. From a device level, the CC2650 should be able to communicate with a CC1350. However, if the RF paths/antennas are different on both devices, then this could lead to the behavior where you are seeing since the two antenna paths are optimized for Sub1 and 2.4GHz, respectively.
