CC2652R7: Does "TI Flash Programmer" support CC2652R7

Part Number: CC2652R7
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2640R2F, UNIFLASH, FLASH-PROGRAMMER

Hi,

I am trying to run some tests with CC2652R7, and was told the pinout is same as 2642R1 family.

We have installed CC2652R7 replacing CC2642R1 on an existing custom board.

I am unable to program it using TI Flash Programmer 1.8.2, it is not recognizing the chip with message:

This particular flashing setup is based on cc2640R2F Launch Pad, and using it we can program cc2640R2F and CC2642R1 chips.

I also tried with CC2642R1 based LaunchPad, still could not recognize the R7 chip.

I am being told, we could flash our CC2652R7 prototype using TI UniFlash software. (It is possible that my CC2652R7 prototype has a hardware issue, and intermittently flashing worked on UniFlash, and I don't want to be misled by this fact)

All I am trying to find out, on paper, is Ti Flash Programmer supposed to be able to flash CC2652R7 chips or does needs some kind of update?  In other words, is flashing CC2652R7 any different than CC2642R1?

Thanks,

Ivan

  • Hi Ivan,

Thank you for making us aware of this issue.  I've noticed that the FLASH-PROGRAMMER has not been updated since v1.8.2 in 2020 whereas the CC2652R7 was not released until late 2021.  I am currently led to believe that the CC2652R7 is not supported by SmartRF Flash Programmer 2 and recommend that you use Uniflash instead.  I will check with the SmartRF Tools Team about any possible plans to update this tool.

    Regards.
    Ryan

  • Thank you Ryan, this is good to know.

I would assume my hardware is good and continue to work with UniFlash, which seems to be working really well.
