As shown in the "Note pending" diagram of the main building,

it is an unmodified version of the simple_broadcaster code,

the only modification being the addition of the macro definition Display_ DISABLE_ ALL (to turn off serial port related functions).

If you do not add a macro definition, there will be approximately 0.2 mW of power consumption between each broadcast。

If your simple peripheral or simple broadcaster has been modified for low power consumption. You will have somewhat similar readings from my blog below. Also you can use energy trace directly to CC2640R2F Launchpad.

In my blog the Energy Trace pictures are small so just zoom it in. 

0 dBM Energy Trace Current Consumption Profile:

At 0 dbm default the advertising peak current is 7.319 mA.

Beacon Advertisement Current Waveform:

Advertisement waveform lasts about 5 ms.

Energytrace is not the best in current measurement waveform, so the actual current measurement maybe lower.

According to my understanding, the peak of high power consumption represents that the chip is broadcasting. At the same time, you should also note that in the image I sent, in the uncommented pend example, the duration of the high power consumption peak reached nearly 1000 ms instead of 5 ms.

In addition, I believe that the CC2640R2F launchpad does not have an energytrace function, it does not have related circuitry, and the supported hardware listed on the official website does not have a 2640R2 development board

I know I have the correct setup XDS110 Debugger + EnergyTrace HDR add-on. Same setup in the video below.

From my blog this is the advertising waveform. The advertising waveform starts from 3,621 ms to 3,625 ms. So duration lasts about 5 ms. This waveform is non connectable advertising or beacon mode.

Connectable advertising waveform can be found at page 20. https://www.ti.com/lit/ml/swra478d/swra478d.pdf

If at EnergyTrace you are not seeing a similar advertising waveforms then there is a problem with your setup.

Do you have the same testing setup as shown in the youtube video XDS110 Debugger + EnergyTrace HDR add-on? If not you will not get the advertising waveform.

My blog is a configurable Eddystone Beacon. At power on It functions like simple peripheral for the first 30 seconds. After 30 seconds it switches to function like simple broadcaster. What you see at the waveform is simple broadcaster non connectable advertising.

I don't have a separate XDS110 debugger, I use the XDS110 on the launchpad board for burning, and the energytrace comes from the MSP430FR2433 development board. So I can understand that the reason why I see a square wave with a duration of 1000ms instead of the waveform with a duration of a few milliseconds that you showed me is because I use the MSP430 development board to monitor power consumption?

And I feel like there's something wrong with saying that

Hi Alex,

To be safe, do you have access to a power analyzer? If so, then could you use it to take capture a waveform of the power draw? This will help us determine if the problem may be coming from the MSP side or from the 2640 side.

Hi,

You need to remove the jumpers at CC2640R2F Launchpad. If jumpers are connected the XDS110 circuitry will add to current consumption.

I do not know what changes needed at MSP430 Launchpad.
