CC2642R: Power and Frequency Control

Hi Rahul,

As a part of our Wireless system, we are using CC2642R for BLE protocol establishment. We are planning to take our system for FCC accreditation. We are using the BTool application to load the HCI commands to the BLE MCU. The FCC certification requires the following configuration to be done in the BLE IC.

Procedure to change the frequency.
Procedure to change the power.

Procedure to change the duty cycle to 100%.

We were trying with the BTool application but could not figure out how to control power and duty cycle. Please let us know if we setup a quick call to figure out the required HCI commands for the above settings. Also let us know if there are any scripts that can be loaded to the BLE MCU to control power, duty cycle and frequency.

I recommend the following app note (https://www.ti.com/lit/swra737), especially §3.2. The commands HCIExt_ModemTestTxCmd and HCIExt_EnhancedModemTestTxCmd set the device to transmit continuous wave (i.e. with 100% duty cycle).

While going through the procedure suggested in the document referred, we are getting very less power(20 dB down) at the output. Whereas, when we are attempting to verify the output power for our actual application code, we are observing the expected output power(Input power - 2dB(insertion loss)). We would want to confirm, if any additional settings are required to get the proper power out of the system.

I am not aware of such commands, and I am not sure they are actually required for certification.

If not already done, make sure to set the TxPower using HCIExt_SetTxPowerCmd.
Also, in order to ease the handling of this issue, could you please open a new thread? Make sure to mention the SDK version used and whether you run the tests on a TI LaunchPad or custom hardware.
