Stellaris bluetooth stack questions

I'm having trouble locating some information I need on the Bluetooth stack for use with the PAN13x5 on the Stellaris platform.

Is a piconet of 3 devices able to be set up using this platform? I found some information that indicated the piconet capabilities were limited on the MSP430 platform but have not found anything concrete about the Stellaris platform. However, the MSP430 bluetooth FAQ did mention the SPP profile demo used a piconet with multiple slaves.

Is the platform able to sink and source using the A2DP profile? I think so but would like to confirm it.

I need to target a range of 30 to 40m in a fairly open space (no obstructing walls, although there may be walls surrounding the space). It looks like the PAN13x5 can use an output power of +12dBm, which appears to be midway between Class 2 (4dBm, 10m open air) and Class 1 (20dBm, 100m open air). Is it safe to assume that the open air performance would be around 50m at maximum power output?

Hello Adam,

The sample application as shipped does not setup a piconet but a user can add that functionality using the APIs. There is no underlying limitation.

The answer for A2DP is similar. The A2DP sample application as shipped is sink only but a user can use the APIs to write an application that acts as A2DP source, the APIs and the stack do not have any limitation.

We will have to defer the questions about radio range to TI support team.

Adam,

Regarding the range, we have seen around 60ft - 80ft range in open space at max output power.

Was that range using the PAN1325 with the chip antenna or the PAN1315 with an external antenna?

It was using the chip antenna. It was using the PAN1315ETU "as is".

Hey .. can I find a source code for a A2DP source .. I am using Stellaris DK LM 3S9D96 and PAN 1323.

Hello Vishvesh,

The included software package does not include A2DP source code. However, the software has all the API support for the same. It is not currently scheduled to be delivered for the platform but customers have developed a source application on this platform using the specifications and the API documents.
