Schematic file for CC2540 Mini Kit (Keyfob)

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2540, TPS62730

Hi,

I am using CC2540 mini kit for a research project and it works very well. The only thing is that to extend the application lifetime of the keyfob, I need to replace the coin cell with a rechargeable battery and add a simple USB charger circuit to the keyfob board. In order to this, I need to modify the schematic file of the keyfob in Cadstar and then update the PCB layout based on that. I was wondering if the actual schematic file for Cadstar is available or if there is a way to reverse engineer it from the PCB layout file.

Thanks,

  • There is a schematic and some design files within this link:

    Good luck! :)

  • Everything you need is in the link Kazola posted.

  • Thanks. I found schematic files and am adding my charger circuit to the schematics. I was thinking of running a "Design Comparison" between the original PCB and schematic files to make sure they match but I receive an error message saying "item not found" and it seems that many components (14 tota) in this design are not included in the standard library and are custom (probably made by TI team).

I was wondering if I should reverse engineer the components used in this design and add them to the library or there is a better solution to this problem.

    Thanks

    Hi,

    I have the same issue.

Question for TI staff:  Does TI provide a library for  those "item not found" ? That would make our life much easier and a faster time to market :-)

  • I am also looking for some advice regarding taking the reference designs and modifying them.

I am able to open the files in CADSTAR express, but when looking to modify the PCB layout, I get an error stating the library files to do not exist. I have also started converting them across to Eagle and have been marginally successful having found the cc254x lbr files, but then discover a problem with the TPS62730 as I cannot find a lbr file for this component.

Can TI share the LIBRARY files that are used in the reference designs or provide advice as to what would be the best design tool to use (noting that not all software design tools have the 'newer'components in their respective software libraries)?

    Kind regards

    Doug

  • Usually I'd simply follow the device datasheet and make the component.

    Try these files.
