Hi,

I have some queries regarding the CC2564 chipset.

1) We are using the CC2564 blutooth Dual mode chip in our product design,in this we want to interface the CC2564 blutooth chip with the ARM microcontroller through UART interfacing.

2) We just want a text data communication between the target device (i.e mobile phones) & our device.

3) Is the CC2564 chip required the stack (firmware ) for basic text communication between ARM microcontroller & CC2564 chip using UART interfacing ?

4) If not needed any stack or firmware, then how we can communicate CC2564 with the microcontroller. Is there any AT cammand set for communication?

note : Our microcontroller is other than MSP430 & Tiva.

Hi,

Yes you will require to load the firmware(service pack) to initialize the chip, please see the first three steps from the link http://processors.wiki.ti.com/index.php/CC256x_Testing_Guide

You can use the HCI command interface to do basic BT operations. But in your case as you wanted to transfer text data, you need to have a stack on the host processor to run the BT operations(including downloading firmware).

Is there any hardware required to download the Service pack in CC2564 chip.?

what is Service Pack include.?

Is this service pack required if i supposed to use the CC2564MODN module in our design ?

Is this service pack required if i supposed to use the CC2540 or CC2541 chip.?

Hi,

Service pack is mandatory initialization scripts that contain bug fixes and platform specific configurations of CC256x(even CC2564MODN)
