Hey,

I really don't feel like dropping $50 to buy a CCdebugger for what will likely be a one-off project.

I was wondering if anyone has had any luck flashing a cc2541 without the debugger.

I do have a LaunchPad kicking around and I was wondering if the 2wire protocol its built in programmer uses could be used to flash a cc2541.

Hi,

The CCdebugger uses a 2 wire protocol, which is different from the MSP430 family , for debugging CC25xx chips.

You willl need to buy it for programming and debugging purposes.

Hey,
Vijay is right. However, I believe the flash programming steps are provided in the CC254x users guide so i suppose you could emulate it with another host. Although I'd say it's easier to buy the $50 debugger... depends on your hourly pay though :) time is money.

Hello.

I'm currently working on flasher software based on Ilia Davidov LPT Flasher. It should support CC253x/CC2540/41, CC2543/44/45 and CC111x/CC251x MCUs.

Also I'm planing to adopt USBasp for flashing CC MCUs. I've already ordered couple.

You can take a look at cc_flasher, but it's open source but it does not support cc2541 out of the box.

Hello.

Here is the first version of flashing software. I've tested it under Windows XP on my cc2541, looks like it works. If anybody has a blinky example for 2541, please send me .hex or .bin I'll test it.

At this moment CC253x/CC2540/41, CC2543/44/45 MCUs must be fully supported, CC111x/CC251x MCUs - backup only.

Flashing procedure described in AN118. Works fast enough.

Reading 256KB takes a looong time.

Just double checked and I actually still have an LPT port, go figure.

Hello.

I've just made some modifications of software:

Debug lock bit check (if locked - enables ERASE button)
Flashing is now limited by firmware file size. My blinky example needs only 2 pages, so it flashed really fast.
I've included blinky_cc2541.bin in firmware folder. It blinks led on P1_2 pin.
