ideal standby interval for power saving

Hello,

I apply standby policy in cc2650 and want to modify the standby interval. I know that if the standby interval is too large, there will be more than one charging up stage between each advertising event. I think if I extent the standby interval which cause it to have one more charging stage, it may consume more power. I wonder if the longer standby interval, the less power it consume. If it isn't, how can I find out the best standby interval so that I can have the longest battery life.

Hi,

By default, if you have POWER_SAVING defined in your project, it should automatically transition the device into the deepest sleep state possible. Increasing the advertising/connection interval in your application will save you more power and yield longer battery life. You can also refer to our power calculator: www.ti.com/.../power_calculator.page
for example on various parameters that affect power consumption.

Hello Albert,

I would expect ADV intervals up to 1 second would not require an additional recharge. You can optimize your ADV settings based on the measurement procedure in SWRA478 app note.

My device does automatically transition into the deepest sleep state. However, that is not what I want. As the I want to connect to the device whenever I want to, but I can't touch the device to wake it up. I think I can't wake up the device remotely, so I want to schedule the device to advertise for 1s and then go to sleep for 10s periodically.
