CC2650: How to get example an project of BLE for CC2650 Lauchpad?

Hi,

I have been searching for an example project on BLE for CC2650 Launch pad .

There is a projectZero mentioned in the application notes which is nowhere available in the resource explorer under CC2650 Launchpad .

How could I start with a BLE example on the CC2650 launchpad I got?

Hi ArunJ JoeC,

You can download ble stack v2.2.1 (www.ti.com/.../ble-stack)
After you install ble stack. You can open the example of ble on cc2650 in C:\ti\simplelink\ble_sdk_2_02_01_18\examples\cc2650lp
Besides, you can read more details of ble stack in docs folder (C:\ti\simplelink\ble_sdk_2_02_01_18\docs)

Why is the CCS do not open the project when the project icon is clicked after importing the example project to a new work space.

You can open CCS. Generate a workspace. Then you import your project in this workspace

Yes,I imported it to a new work space and opened it .
I closed it and tried to open the same from the workspace(the screen shot) I imported it to.
But when the CCS opens , it shows nothing in project explorer.

If you import project from CCS, it should keep on project explorer even after restarting CCS.

i removed it form project explorer before closing and tried to open it directly just as in IAR and Keil, I'm new to CCS and TI-RTOS

If you remove it from CCS before closing CCS, you have to import it again.

I had gone through the examples,trying to understand the RTOS concepts, which is the mobile application that is used in connecting with the BLE? and is there any such example that i could try form the examples given?

If you use SensorTag example, You can use sensortag app of TI
If you want to read/write the raw data on the characteristics of profile, you can use lightblue on iOS

Hi,
I tried running the SensorTag example along with TI sensortag app but it shows that the there is no device advertising in range.

You can download ble stack 2.2.1 www.ti.com/.../ble-stack
Then you can install it.
You can read more detail of example in C:\ti\simplelink\ble_sdk_2_02_01_18\docs
I recommend you should use simple_peripheral example. Because the Developer's Guide of TI is written based on simple_peripheral.

Yes, I did project-> Build Project and after building clicked on debug icon and run the code.

You should build and download BIM example into your CC2640 too.

Hi ArunJ JoeC,

There are two options of SensorTag app:
1/ SensorTag dont have OTA.
2/ SensorTag have OTA.

+ With SensorTag dont have OTA. You only need app and stack firmware of sensortag example. You can do the following:
- Build stack firmware and download it to device
- Choice the app firmware that support dont have OTA and build, debug and run the code.

+ With SensorTag have OTA. You need the BIM, App and stack firmware of sensortag example. You can do the following:
- Build BIM firmware and download it to device. BIM firmware is bootloader of OTA. If you use the incorrect BIM firmware, you can meet some problem.
- Build stack firmware and download it to device
- Choice the app firmware that support OTA and build, debug and run the code.

You can use the debug button in CCS to download the code like YiKai Chen said.
You only download the stack firmware one time. If you dont change any thing in the stack firmware, you dont need download it again.
In the next debug on this device, you only download the app firmware to debug

yes. you can use the sensortag app to scan and connect to Simple_Peripheral example.
or you can use lightblue on iOS or BLE Scanner on Android.
Besides, you can search BLE keyword on app store to find the another apps

:-( I tried all these but none are working , I saw warning symbol on all the project saying it was composed in an older version of ARM toolchain.

You should use TI ARM compiler v5.2.6 in CCS to build BLE example.

Hi, I had done those changes now either of the stack or app is compiling without errors, but I get these errors for the other. ( se screen shot https://ibb.co/d5LqYF ) The device that I use is CC2650 Launchpad, seems like the memory config files are made for the CC2640.
How can I fix this?

Try to reinstall your BLE stack and import the example to test again.

Hi, I found in a discussion that this is due to the default Target config file in the project, I override this in the main configurations and now the projects are compiling without any errors.

I'm able to see the SimpleBlePeripheral in the BLE scanner App but not able to connect with it (kind of grayed out) and see nothing in the sensortag app of TI.

I build both the codes and clicked debug button for the BLEstack project first and then for the app.(hope this is the right method ,also successfully burned the code using RF Programmer).

In the build options the default selection is FlashROM.

Try to use TI SimpleLink Starter App to see if it can scan your SimpleBlePeripheral.

Yeah, My phone do not support the app(Redmi 2 Prime) , I tried with another mobile( Moto G3) in which the SimpleBLEPheripheral shows up but not connecting.Both are Android platforms.

If you download prebuilt hex cc2650lp_simple_peripheral_rel.hex under C:\ti\simplelink\ble_sdk_2_02_01_18\examples\hex to your LAUNCHXL-CC2650, does it work?

There is no any prebuilt hex file in the directory unless you create one with CCS.'

Those prebuilt hex files are there after you install BLE Stack v2.2.1.

Oh yeah, Sorry I was searching in the workspace.
That hex file is burned and is connecting as well.
But here there is only one single file?

Yes, that hex file is merged both app and Stack in it.
