CC2564: BT-MSPAUDSOURCE EVM open box can't connect BT headphone

Part Number: CC2564
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BT-MSPAUDSINK, , CC256XMS432BTBLESW, CC3200AUDBOOST

I got a BT-MSPAUDSOURCE EVM , after open box, I follow USER GUIDE and try to demo it. But I have two different BT HEADPHONE, can't find them iby EVM.

Two BT HEADPHONE all can work good with my smartphone.

I try these at many location, include very clean RF solution, but still no good.

I connected USB, monitor by console, but no any useful information.

I think if I can do:

1, Why a device can't connect to BT-MSPAUDSOURCE  EVM without MSP430 DEBUGGER?

2,Can I setup a device list in code, then we can force BT-MSPAUDSOURCE  EVM to connect these BT device. Means skip searching process.

Thanks!

  • Hello Tan,

    I'm not sure i fully understand your exact setup.

    Can you please write what is the exact setup you are using?
    What version do you use?

    Any other information so we can start looking what could be the issue and help you.

    Hi Chen,

    My board is BT-MSP-AUDSOURCE REV 1.1. I hope can send analog audio signal to a BT headphone.

    In quick start(www.ti.com/.../tidu459a.pdf), I found:
    Step 1: Set Remote Bluetooth Audio Sink Device Ready
    Turn on the remote Bluetooth audio sink device and make sure it is ready to connect.
    NOTE: The remote Bluetooth device must support the A2DP profile and sink role (for example, a
    Bluetooth speaker or Bluetooth headphones).

    So I tried to connect AUDSOURCE with a BT headphone. But I followed step 1-5, BT headphone never connected. I also use another BT headphone, it also no good.

    Through UART, after powered board, I can got these message:

    BOOT
    OpenStack().
    Bluetooth Stack ID: 1
    A3DP Source Feature enabled.

    I'm not sure if any profile must supported by BT headphone, then it can be connected with AUDSOURCE?

    Thanks!

    Can I setup a device list in code, then we can force BT-MSPAUDSOURCE  EVM to connect these BT device. Means skip searching process.

    The default application code on the BT-MSPAUDSOURCE is designed to search for A2DP Sink devices and prioritize the connection to the BT-MSPAUDSINK board. The A3DPDemo_SRC code on the BT-MSPAUDSOURCE does so by searching for "MSP-SNK" in the name of the searched devices and connecting to it. So if you change the following line of the A3DPDemo_SRC.c with the name of the headset that you are trying to connect, you can easily connect to the headset from the BT-MSPAUDSOURCE after reprogramming it with this modified application.

    #ifdef __TI_A3DP_SRC_BOARD__

       /* The following string represents the beginning of the name that we */
       /* are looking for in the EIR data of discovered devices. */
    static BTPSCONST char SinkBoardSearchName[] = "MSP-SNK";

    #endif

    Moreover, if trying to demonstrate the A3DP capabilities of the CC256xB, you might want to look into our newer reference designs like the MSP-EXP432P401R + BOOST-CC2564MODA + CC3200AUDBOOST hardware running A3DPDemo_SRC from the CC256XMS432BTBLESW. You can use the A3DPDemo in this newer SDK to find the headset from console output and connect it.
