CC2640R2F-Q1: Is CC2640R2F-Q1 able to support Bluetooth 5 Long Range

Part Number: CC2640R2F-Q1
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2642R, CC2640R2F

Hi Ti Experts,

Is CC2640R2F-Q1 able to support Bluetooth 5 Long Range?

From the datasheet, it only mentioned CC2640R2Fxxx has long range.

Another question is, is CC2642R comply to automotive standard with long range?

Thanks,

Br,

  • Hi Teach Me,

The CC2640R2F-Q1 does support Bluetooth 5 long range with the latest CC2640R2 SDK (version 2.20). Note that the functionality is for evaluation and development as of now, as Bluetooth qualification is scheduled for later this fall.

A Q100 version of CC2642R is not planned as part of the initial release of the x2 devices.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
  • Hi Fredrik,

If we wish to evaluate the CC2640R2F-Q1 BLE chip, is there any different we load the long range SDK ver 2.20 on the CC2640R2F development kit (BLE is 7x7mm, non-automotive grade) since they are same package?
Or we have to mount the Q1 chip to the development board?

    Thanks,
    Teach Me
  • Hi Teach Me,

There is no change from a functionality point of view. The CC2640R2F LaunchPad can thus be used to evaluate and develop for the CC2640R2F-Q1.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
