Using SmartRF Studio 7 to control CC2541EMK, I am controlling the LNAGAIN. If I change one of the three LNAs to 0dB, is that LNA bypassed or is the gain changed?

From page 331 in http://www.ti.com/lit/ug/swru191f/swru191f.pdf setting the LNAGAIN register set the gain to 0 dBm.

Is the LNA switched out of the circuit or how is the gain changed? What does the different gain steps do to the NF?

As can see from the register names the LNA has different gain stages.

I believe the NF will change but not sure if it's relevant since when the gain is turned down the input signal is strong.

What is the background for the questions?

I am testing different amplifiers and using the C2541EMK to measure BER. Anything you can tell me about the LNA(s) configuration and NF is helpful.

I found a E2E thread that indicate that NF is ~8.5 dB for CC2541.

What is the background for the questions? What are you trying to implement/ calculate?
