CC2650MODA: Reset input and functionality

Part Number: CC2650MODA

Is it recommended to use an external supervisory IC to generate the external reset input signal for this module, or is it sufficient to just fit the required external pull-up resistor?

The datasheet mentions both Power on Reset and Brownout Detector functions, but I couldn't fund any further details for these functions to assess their suitability for my application.

Can you provide any guidance or specification for these reset features?

Thanks

  • Hi Nick,

according to the Layout Guidelines section of the datasheet, the reset line should have an external pullup resistor unless the line is actively driven.

Basically, if you want the ability to control the reset line via another device and the line will be in a driven/known state at all times, then you don't need the pull up resistor. This configuration can be seen in the BOOSTXL-CC2650MA design. Otherwise, just ensure that the external pullup is provided like in the Typical application Circuit shown in the datasheet.

    Thanks,

    Alexis
