Is it nessary to have CC2540 antenna on my board?

I have developed PCB board, and I can use wireless communication with my PC.

but, I wonder it can wireless communication without antenna that takes up a lot of board space..

I want to remove antenna space..

Is it possitble? (Ground for antenna takes up 1/4 of board space...)

You do not need that big ground plane for the antenna, but the antenna must be tuned when altering the ground plane size. The efficiency will also go down, but it will still be good enough. You will however need an antenna. For an example of a small CC2541 design, see for instant www.ti.com/.../CC2541-POSTAGE-STAMP-RD. This is for CC2541 but can be used as a reference.
