You can refer to SensorTag example which has driver and implementation of MPU9250.

i have looked at it but i really dont know exactly where to start and tailor that code for the launch pad.

If you don't have special reason that you must use CC2650LP, I would suggest you to use CC2650 SensorTag to study MPU9250 to save your time.

I too am also working with the CC2650 Launchpad and the MPU 9250. What is the name of the SensorTag example that deals with the MPU 9250 and its implementation.

It's sensortag example under C:\ti\simplelink\ble_sdk_2_02_00_31\examples\cc2650stk after you install BLE Stack 2.2.
