CC2540: Connecting CC2540DK peripheral to Btool

Hi all,

I am using BTool in order to analyse the connection between two CC2540DK. I set one as the HostTestAppAll and the other as a Peripheral. Then, central device scan the peripheral using BTool. Once the connection is established, i tried to use passkey funtionality to pairing process. However the error the error GAP_BondComplete: Failed Invalid Event ID is recived. Following a forum recommendation i tried to connect also the peripheral device to Btool in other to set the pass key in both. However i can't to connect it to btool due to figure errors.

Is possible to connect CC2540DK with peripheral firmware to Btool?

Are you sure your BTool recognize HostTest running on your CC2540DK successfully?

Can you please make sure your BTool and Host Test versions are compatible/From the same software kit?

If you run simplePeripheral example on CC2540DK, BTool cannot communicate it with serial connection.

Hi Marie,

I can sending data between both central and peripheral. The situation is that i need to test a passkey authentication method and until now i can set the passkey field with 0000.

Is ther other way to connect peripheral to Btool, in orther to set passkey with a number different to 0000?

When you ask "Is ther other way to connect peripheral to Btool?", do you mean to connect BTool to peripheral through UART?

Yes.

However, i really need a way to set a passkey different 0000 in both central and peripheral. Then, i thought that a possible solution was to connect both central and peripheral to Btool and set the passkey for each. You know any way to do this?

No, simplePeripheral example doens't support serial HCI interface like HostTest and it cannot connect to BTool through UART.

Then, why Btool support this option? I think that is to authenticate both central and peripheral. Is it right?

Hi Santiago,

You can configure the Host Test project as a peripheral, re-build and re-flash it, then restart BTool. Now BTool will support peripheral device actions. (See the BTool User's Guide for instructions.)

Hi Marie

I found how to set peripheral role in CC2540DK with HostTest.

Program the CC2540DK with the HostTestRelease.
Attach CC2540DK
Open BTool, Set the Port corresponding to the one your CC2540DK is populating.
Under Adv. Commands, GAP you will find GAP_DeviceInit, set profileRole to Peripheral and hit Send Command
Still in Adv. Commands, GAP you will find GAP_UpdateAdvertisingData, set adType toGAPADVERT_ADVERTISEMENT_DATA and set dataLen to 3 and hit Send Command.
Still in Adv. Commands, GAP you will find GAP_MakeDiscoverable, make sure that you see the available options for it (no need to make changes) and hit Send Command.

Still, i have not test the connection with central. However, i'll close the thread to publish the information.
