CC2590: Connecting CC2590 to CC2520

Part Number: CC2590
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2520, , CC2591

Hello All,

I am re-working a legacy design using the CC2520 and CC2590.

I have noticed that the CC2590 has a NC on pin 1. However, there are a few reference designs provided by TI (pasted below), which show the NC pin 1 connected to VDD through a trace inductor.

Can you please clarify what the purpose of this is, why this is, etc? All of the CC2590 documentation states that pin 1 (NC) should be not connected, but this is not reflected in any reference designs. Please advise.

  • Hi Jakub,

The reason pin 1 on CC2590 is connected to VDD on many reference design is to make them compatible with the CC2591.

The pin is not connected internally in the IC though, so for CC2590 there is of course no need to connect this to anything.

    Regards,
    Fredrik
