CC2640R2F: SimpleLink SDK version and Bluetooth qualification

Part Number: CC2640R2F
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BLE-STACK,

Hello,

Further to a recent post, I would like some further clarification on the qualification of the BLE-Stack software covered by Bluetooth Qualified Design Identification (QDID) 82185.

My understanding from my last post (https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/bluetooth/f/538/t/788568) was that the QDID would be renewed for all existing BLE-Stack versions.

However, the final comment in another thread (https://e2e.ti.com/support/wireless-connectivity/bluetooth/f/538/p/797214/2952053) implies that only the most recent BLE-Stack versions are covered.

My project is currently based on v1.50.00.58 of the CC2640R2F TI SimpleLink SDK, using BLE-Stack version 3.01.01.58.

Can you assist?

Many thanks,

John

  • Hi John,

I have reached out to the BLE product owners internally to further understand the situation. Stay tuned.

The existing QDID is still valid for SDKv1.50 since it's using the BLE-Stack version 3.01.01, although it expires June 22nd this year. You can do an End-product listing before that.

  • After the expiration of the QDID, you will need to migrate to the upcoming SDKv3.20 in order to qualify your product (which will be BT5.1). So I suggest you qualify before June 22nd.
  • Hi Joakim,

Thanks for taking the time to research this for me.

I do not believe we will be in a position to qualify before June 22nd.

To confirm what I think your last response implies:
    * BLE-Stack v3.01.01.58 will not be included in the new QDID.
    * We will need to migrate to TI SimpleLink SDK v3.20 (when it is released) in order to use the new QDID.
    * We will have to migrate from BLE-Stack to BLE5-Stack in order to use the new QDID.

    Is that correct?

    Many thanks,

    John
  • Hi John,
Correct that you will need to migrate to TI SimpleLink SDK v3.20 (when it is released) in order to use the new QDID.

However, you will still be able to use the BLE-Stack. That's the part being BT5.1 qualified (it will not include the optional BT5.x features). The BLE5-Stack is already BT5.0 qualified. Sorry if it sounds complex and convoluted. It's just a coincidence that the BLE-Stack is the pending qual update and it happens to be "BT5.1", even though the optional features of the entire "5" part isn't included.
  • Thanks Joakim.

Do you have any information on when the SDK v3.20 will be released?

    Regards,

    John
