CC2650MODA: Support Bluetooth 5.0 and 5.1

Hi,

my customer is searching the device supporting Bluetooth 5.0.

1) They found the below description in C2650MODA datasheet.

• RF Section

– 2.4-GHz RF Transceiver Compatible With Bluetooth low energy (BLE) 5.1 Specification and IEEE 802.15.4 PHY and MAC

So they expect C2650MODA supports Bluetooth 5.0. But they found below thread in E2E and it is said the module doesn't support Bluetooth 5.0.

We are confused. How should we interpret this?

2) If C2650MODA support Bluetooth 5.0, they can develop Bluetooth 5.0 system to use only BLE-STACK-2-3-3?

Otherwise, is it any other SDK with BLE-STACK-2-3-3?

I can't find v2.3.3 of the BLE-STACK, do you mean v2.2.3?

In the Release Notes for v2.2.3 of the BLE-STACK it says:

Please note that no Bluetooth 5 or Bluetooth 5.1 features are supported.

So looks like there is no Bluetooth 5 support for this stack.

I'm sorry it is typo. It is v2.2.3.

I understand BLE-STACK don't support Bluetooth 5.0 and 5.1.

Hi Masashi,

Thanks for clarifying.

There are a couple of suggestions on the product page for CC2650 on other devices to use. CC2642 is suggested if the application only requires Bluetooth 5, CC2652 is recommended for multi-protocol support (Bluetooth LE, Zigbee, and Thread), and CC2640R2 for Bluetooth 4.2 since it's the most up to date Bluetooth LE 4.2 stack.
