CC2642R: SLEEP and WAKEUP mode

That's certainly a possibility. It depends on your requirements.

There are two considerations with that approach (or any, for that matter):

• Power consumption. Does the chip consume power when reset pin is asserted? (I'll have to get back to you on this one)
• Latency (i.e. time). How long does the chip take to begin its normal operation after reset? Will it be fast enough to satisfy my requirements?
• Memory. Since RAM contents will be lost*, how does that affect my requirements?

Other approaches may be possible, and likely better. The chip consumes very little power when in deep sleep. Look at the datasheet.

* There may be some tricks to avoid losing RAM contents if a reset occurs but power is not lost.

Basically, power saving is handled by BLE Stack and SDK if you use simple_peripheral example and I see no reason why you need to do this. You can refer to Measuring CC13xx and CC26xx current consumption application note.

My understanding from Chen's reply is that we can call Power_sleep() function from the simple_peripheral application which sends the BLE chip to a deep sleep mode. Correct me if my understanding is wrong.

As I had replied, power saving has been handled by BLE Stack and SDK in simple_peripheral example. You don't have to call Power_sleep to make the chip enter sleep mode. The chip would enter sleep mode by itself when there is nothing to handle.

Do we know how much time it will take for simple_peripheral to go to deep sleep after inactivity?

Also, we also are looking for some kind of API which can send BLE to deep sleep on user driven event. Can we make use of the power manager API Power_sleep() for that?

I don’t do real measurement in such case but I would say system would enter sleeping within millisecond. I suppose you can use Power_sleep but it won’t make too much sense since BLE Stack and TI RTOS has handled this.
