Please guide how can i send JPG format file from USB dongle to Keyfob using BTool software.Also please guide how can i monitor packets using USB dongle through BLE packet sniffer software. Thanks in advance

Hello,

Sending a file via BTool is not a supported use case for this tool. Please refer to the Packet Sniffer user guide for how to use the Packet Sniffer software.

Dear ,

I valued your feedback. Can you please guide when i update the USB dongle with packet sniffer firmware then i could not establish connection between USB dongle and Key fob using B Tool. Please help how can i establish connection and how can i send data of my choice like JPG file or CSV format file.

If you want to connect Btool with CC2540 USB dongle, you have to download HostTest application to your dongle. You can find prebuilt HostTest hex file CC2540_USBdongle_HostTestRelease_All.hex under C:\Texas Instruments\BLE-CC254x-1.4.1.43908\Accessories\HexFiles.

Dear ,
Thankyou for your feedback , but my question is when i download your advised application to dongle then BTool work and Packets sniffer dont works. My intention is to send packets between usb dongle and keyfob after pairing through BToll and analysis RSSI through Packet sniffer .Now i hope you get my point .Waiting for reply

If you only have one CC2540 USB dongle, you can only run either HostTest or Packet Sniffer on it. You will need another dongle to do sniffer analysis when you send packets between usb dongle and keyfob after pairing through BTool.

Packet sniffer cannot send packet. It is used for receiving packets over the air.

You can only send packet via CC2540 USB dongle with Btool.

Hello,

To state more clearly, the CC2540 wireless MCU has a single, integrated radio. So, you can either send (TX) packets or receive (RX) packets, but not both at the same time. Based on your situation, I would suggest that you obtain two CC2540USB dongles, and program them with the HostTest and Packet Sniffer firmware respectively. You can control both dongle from the same PC provided you have sufficient USB ports.

I bought two usb dongles , one is already in packet sniffer firmware but to other i have write the usb dongle host firmware but now i cant connect it to BTool and its light turning red . please guide

1. You have to program prebuilt image CC2540_USBdongle_HostTestRelease_All.hex under BLE installtion folder\Accessories\HexFiles to your CC2540 USB dongle.

2. Make sure you use correct COM port which is simulated by CC2541 USB dongle in BTool.
